CHRIS KATTAN

Saturday Night Live has produced its fair share of successful comedians and celebrities, and Chris Kattan was in line to be another one. He was a celebrated member of the cast back in the late 1990s and has delivered so many memorable skits that had the audience laughing.

Kattan decided to try his hand in movies full-time and left the show for good to star in the 2001 film, Corky Romano. It was a mafia comedy film that seemed to be right up Kattan’s alley. However, the film didn’t perform as well as they expected. It at least got the investment money back and made a margin of profit off ticket sales.

JAKE LLOYD

Many people seem to forget that child actors and actresses are, despite their fame and screen roles, still children. This rings true with Jake Lloyd’s experience as the child actor who played the young Anakin Skywalker on Star Wars.

As a kid, he got to live every sci-fi fans’ dream by playing this titular role. However, it came with consequences. He became a subject of bullying in school and he was heavily criticized for his awkward performance in The Phantom Menace.

In 2015, police responded to Lloyd’s alleged physical assault against his mother. His mother declined to call a lawyer and press charges, revealing that Lloyd was diagnosed with schizophrenia and wasn’t taking his medication at the time of the assault.

TOPHER GRACE

Some people call Grace’s performance as Venom in Spider-Man 3 as his fall from grace. While on some level, it’s true, given the public’s polarized opinion on his performance and his lacking physical physique to fit the role, Grace’s career did not go down the toilet fully.

Grace started his career in the hit teen show, That ‘70s Show, and was on his path to being Hollywood’s latest leading man. That changed when he took the role of Venom. His career, however, didn’t run out of gas as he bagged roles in amazing movies like Interstellar.

MADONNA

Who doesn’t know Madonna?

The world knows her as an ‘80s pop icon whose career longevity is evident with her most recent albums still topping the charts. Madonna has also delivered stellar performances as an actress in movies like A League of Their Own and Evita.

However, her streak encountered a bump with the film Swept Away. The film itself was considered as a waste of investment money as it only made $600,000 in cinemas despite its $10-million production cost.

KRISTIN KREUK

Hollywood’s never learned its mistakes when it comes to adapting anime to live-action films. The year 2009 saw the adaptation of a video game’s character entitled Enter Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li. They didn’t cast a Chinese actress but instead cast Kreuk, and unfortunately, her performance was lacking.

Good thing Kreuk got to bounce back on the small screen with the show, Burden of Truth, where she plays Joanna Hanley, a corporate lawyer who uncovers a huge secret behind a case.

THE ROCK

Sometimes, staying loyal to your brand is the best and safest course of action for your career. Like Vin Diesel, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnsons’ career was nearly derailed with a Disney family comedy film, The Tooth Fairy.

The film wasn’t well-received by critics despite its redeeming hilarious qualities. This movie didn’t turn The Rock off from family movies as he continued to raise his credit score with movies such as Moana, where he voiced the demi-god Maui, and Jumanji. He’s really out there having the best of both worlds – action and comedy!

FREDDIE PRINZE JR.

Freddie Prinze Jr. was the heartthrob of the 1990s. He made his career starring in films such as I Know What You Did Last Summer, She’s All That, and Summer Catch. His streak was broken when he signed up to play Fred Jones in the Scooby-Doo film adaptation.

While it performed relatively well in the box office with $275.7-million ticket sales, the critics weren’t fond of it. This affected Prinze’s Hollywood opportunities, and he, later on, revealed that he didn’t even enjoy filming the movie. Although to the film’s credit, it did get him to find love in the form of his co-star Sarah Michelle Gellar.

CHRISTOPHER THOMAS HOWELL

Some roles are just meant to be turned down.

In 1986, Howell took the Soul Man project wherein he played a white man that took tanning pills in order to look like an African-American and get a black-only scholarship at Harvard Law School and become an attorney. Needless to say, it was harshly criticized by the African-American community.

However, Howell maintains that he did not regret taking the role and he didn’t intend to discriminate against anyone.

JIM CAVIEZEL

There’s always a big risk when it comes to being a part of a film that centers on a religious figure – especially if you’re taking the lead. Caviezel played Christ in the controversial 2004 film, The Passion of Christ.

During the filming, he was struck by lightning twice – talk about electricity. He also struggled with hypothermia and pneumonia during the filming. His performance was well-received, considering all the factors, but afterward, he’s had a hard time getting roles because he became widely recognized as the face of Jesus due to the film.

MARK HAMILL

Hamill made his mark in the industry as Luke Skywalker in Star Wars. He’s well-loved by the franchise’ fans, and judging from his interviews, he loved the character and franchise, too. It became increasingly difficult to distinguish Hamill from his Star Wars role, however, and because of this, he hasn’t had any other notable roles. Interestingly this didn’t become the case for his co-stars, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher.

Still, Hamill’s got a great credit score due to the franchise and has since made quite an amount of money doing voice acting.
